From Photography Novice to Pro: Arsenal Uses a Neural Network to Shoot for You

Although many photographers prefer to shoot in full manual mode, for ordinary users, auto mode is the safest choice. A tool has recently appeared that claims to make auto mode smarter, using a neural network algorithm to provide the most suitable settings.
The "auto" mode on a typical camera simply measures the light and adjusts the camera settings. This tool, called Arsenal, can monitor 18 different scene factors in real time. Its system uses analysis data from the work of professional photographers. After obtaining live scene information from the camera, it uses neural network technology to analyse the image (identifying objects in the frame, such as trees, faces and waves), then compares the result with this professional data to work out the best settings and produce the best photo.
Besides obtaining scene information from the camera, Arsenal also has several sensors of its own. For example, a motion sensor can determine whether the camera is handheld or on a tripod. It can also connect to iOS and Android devices via Bluetooth, allowing time-lapse video shooting, long-exposure control and more, and photos can be shared directly from the phone. The tool is still crowdfunding on Kickstarter, and the funds raised have already far exceeded its target. Its price is US$150. It supports Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fujifilm cameras, and anyone interested can take a look on Kickstarter.
